We're Hiring! English Program Director Position with PIV/LVP

Part-time, permanent contract position available: English Program Director

Poetry In Voice / Les voix de la poésie (PIV/LVP) is a registered charity that promotes poetry and poetry education across Canada. We provide educators with engaging content and experiences, in English and French, to inspire their students to read, recite, and write poetry. We seek a dynamic, proactive, imaginative and productive Program Director to partner with our team members and ensure streamlined operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and curate new additions to our English poetry anthology
  • Oversee all new content creation (Lesson Plans, Mixtapes, Dive Ins, etc.)
  • Coordinate all English Team Regional Contests
  • Collaborate with the French Director in the creation of our annual student poetry journal
  • Plan and execute our National Finals and FutureVerse events with the rest of team
  • Assist the Development team with its fundraising efforts

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of working with arts organizations, schools and/or non-profits
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Humanities, Education, etc.)
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills, good knowledge of French an asset
  • A solid knowledge and interest in Canadian poetry
  • Knowledge of Canadian secondary education
  • Rigorous editorial skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience writing/talking about poetry to a general and/or educational audience an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Acrobat, Word, and Excel, and a working knowledge of a CMS and HTML an asset
  • Ability to work well with diverse team members in a virtual office environment

 

You will be able to work from home and negotiate your weekly schedule. The salary is $ 32,265.66 per year, 18.75 hours per week, with 3 weeks of holiday, increasing to 6 weeks and a 15% pay rise after one year.
