Team Regionals

“In my opinion, the regional competitions are one of the most valuable moments of our participation with Poetry In Voice.”
- Michel Sardi, École internationale de Montréal, Montreal

“I invite everyone to jump into the adventure without hesitation. Poetry In Voice awaits you!
- Ann Légaré, teacher, École secondaire De Rochebelle, Quebec City

“I don't hesitate to register my students every year: the effort is worth it!”
- Mélanie Boulianne, teacher, École des Timoniers, Sainte-Catherine

At a Team Regional, each school is represented by a trio of reciters, and up to eight schools can participate. We only hold Senior Team Regionals (grades 10-12) at this time, but if your junior competitors (grades 7-9) would like to form a team (or be a member of a senior team), please contact us!  This year, there will be Team Regionals in Ottawa, Toronto, Etobicoke, Essex County, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Manitoba. All Team Regionals will be held in person.

The 3 top-scoring teams win:

  • 1st place: $100 for each student
  • 2nd place: $60 for each student
  • 3rd place: $40 for each student

How to participate in the team competition:

  • Contact us and let us know you would like to participate. We will do our best to find a contest that works for you.
  • Identify three students who will each recite a different poem from our senior English anthology.
  • Collect their permission forms.
  • Fill in our Online Team Regional Form (coming soon!) with your students' information.

To prepare for a Team Regional event, three students are chosen to represent their school (often, these are students who placed well in their school contest or even their classroom contest). Each student selects one poem to recite and the team works to make each recitation the best it can be.

Students, please refer to our Rules & Deadlines page for a complete list of our general contest rules and those that apply specifically to the Team Regionals.

Keep in mind that the Team Regionals are NOT on the path to the Junior Online Finals or to the National Finals
