Biography

Criticized for his politics and revolutionary ideals, Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) led an unconventional life that was intimately bound to his friends and fellow Romantic poets Byron and Keats. His important works include the poem “Ozymandias” (1818), his elegy for Keats, Adonaïs (1821), and the dramatic play Prometheus Unbound (1820). Married to the novelist Mary Shelley, who wrote Frankenstein, Shelley drowned at the age of 30.
