Biography
The English painter and poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) was a founding member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, who rejected Mannerist techniques in favour of a more direct, sensual approach. He published several collections of ballads, sonnets, and narrative poems, including Sir Hugh the Heron: A Legendary Tale in Four Parts (1843) and Sonnets and Lyrical Poems (1894).
