Of Salish and Cree ancestry, Lee Maracle is originally from British Columbia. She has published over 10 books of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction and is the editor of several anthologies of aboriginal writing. For many years, Maracle has been a staunch activist in the struggle against racism, sexism, and economic oppression faced by Canada's Aboriginal peoples. She lives in Innisfil, Ontario, and is Mentor for Aboriginal Students at University of Toronto.
