Born in Rhode Island, USA, Ted Berrigan is considered a major figure of the “second generation” of the New York School of poetry. His work is conversational and expansive, and he often collaborated with other New York poets such as Ron Padgett, Joe Brainard, and Anne Waldman. More than 20 years after his death, his second wife, poet Alice Notley, and their sons, Anselm and Edmund Berrigan, edited The Collected Poems of Ted Berrigan.
