Biography
Born in Kingston, Ontario, Bronwen Wallace studied at Queen’s University only to return years later to help found the Women's Studies department. Through her work and her writing, she promoted the rights of the working class, women, and children. She died of cancer in 1989, and in 1994, The Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers was founded. Every other year, the award is given to a young poet.
