Biography
Born in Ratno, Ukraine, A. M. Klein moved to Montreal, Quebec, with his family when he was a young boy. After attending McGill University and the University of Montreal, Klein practiced law and worked as a speech writer while he pursued his writing career. He was associated with many important Canadian poets, including F. R. Scott, A. J. M. Smith, Irving Layton, and P. K. Page. He appeared on an LP called Six Montreal Poets put out in 1957 by Folkways Records, which featured readings by Leonard Cohen, Scott, Smith, and Layton.
