Biography

One of history’s most powerful women, Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603) was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. She ascended to the English throne at the age of 25 under a cloud of controversy, but she is now remembered as the ruler of a golden age. English drama, in particular, flourished during her reign. In addition to writing artful poetry, she also translated the Roman poet Horace into English.
