Biography
Rita Bouvier is a Métis poet who was born and raised in Île-à-la-Crosse (Sakitawak) in northern Saskatchewan. Her poetry combines English with Cree and Michif words and phrases. Her first book of poetry, Blueberry Clouds, was nominated for the 2000 First People’s Publishing Saskatchewan Book Award. As a teacher and advocate, she has focused her efforts on issues of Aboriginal education and social justice.
