Biography
Karen Connelly is the author of eleven books of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. She’s been called “one of Canada’s smartest, fiercest and most intrepid writers.” by CBC's Bill Richardson. Connelly is known for her fearless political activism and several of her books have explored the struggles of Burmese dissidents, political prisoners, revolutionary soldiers, and refugees. Connelly’s work has won Britain’s Orange Broadband New Novelist’s Prize and was shortlisted for the U.S.’s Kiriyama Prize. She divides her time between Toronto and Greece and teaches creative nonfiction in the University of Guelph’s MFA program.
