I am a teacher candidate at the University of Toronto, (Ontario's Institute for Studies in Education [OISE]). I am currently completing the first of my two year program, where I have completed two of the four practicums and am doing my own research to attain a Master of Teaching degree, as well as a Bachelor of Education degree.
I have a strong background in Early Childhood Education and have completed a four year undergraduate program where I have completed and attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Studies.
My recent experiences include working in a childcare centre, an early years family centre, one-on-one tutoring and the public education system, where I have taught in both mainstream classrooms and a developmentally delayed classroom with grades ranging from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
I have a passion for incorporating the arts into the educative setting because of the amount of self-expression, self-exploration and self-discovery it offers to children. I believe that one of the most important things for children to learn about is themselves (e.g., what are their strengths, weaknesses, differences etc), for everyone must know who they are first, before they can carry through their lives as confident lifelong learners.
